The common brown ringlet has a 31 mm wingspan and is brown with an orange patch and eyespots on its hindwings. It lives in tall open forests, rainforest edges, and coastal heath-woodland along the east coast of Australia. Its caterpillars feed on several grass species such as couch grass and Eriachne pallescens.

How to recognize it
